Kathryn & Joey’s Wedding at Laudholm Farm | Wells, ME

This classic, vintage wedding was a beauty. Every last detail was planned down to the JFK return stamps.

Kathryn and Joey’s wedding was held in August, 2021 in Wells.

It was a full on display of the spirit of this fabulous and gorgeous couple. A huge THANK YOU to the couple for their support during 2021 as we all navigated that wild year- you guys are the reason that our small company continues to do what we do!

Grab some champagne & let’s meet the couple and all the incredible vendors that helped make this special day!

Wedding planner: A Family Affair of Maine | Florals: Flour!  | Venue: Wells Reserve at Laudholm | Lighting: Griffin & Griffin Lighting  | Catering: Applecroft Catering  | Rentals & Decor:  A Family Affair of Maine, Sperry Tents Seacoast , Heartwood Essentials | Transportation: Ogunquit Trolley | Photographer:  Jamie Mercurio | Entertainment: Sliver Arrow Band | Beauty: Goldies Arrow | Stationery & Signage: The Chatty Press, Letter and Ink| Dessert: Bear Brooke Bakery

Kathryn came to us as a partial planning client. When we were introduced to her mother we could tell what a great mother-daughter team we were working with. Kathryn and Pam had so many ideas and details they wanted to add to tell their story. This duo worked incredibly hard during such an unpredictable time to create this day.

The first element guests saw were the invitations, designed by The Chatty Press.

The Chatty Press also created the signs around the venue and seating chart, incorporating mussel shells into the designs. I loved that she included a map of all her favorite locations for guests that didn’t work in Maine. This was also a great way to encourage guests to do more exploring in between the wedding festivities.

What was the best part of the planning process?

Our monthly meetings – going in every month I felt anxious with so many “unknowns” especially with the pandemic, but would always leave feeling grateful and in the BEST hands.

Kathryn wore an Alexandra Grecco dress. Her hair and makeup was done by the talented Goldies Arrow. After getting ready she was escorted to St. Brennan’s Church by Ogunquit Trolley. Look how fabulous this ride was. Joey and his groomsman arrived at the church in a trolley, too!

We know it is so hard to choose- but what was your favorite part of your wedding weekend? ( If you can’t choose feel free to tell us a few!)

Oh boy, this is a tough one! I’m going to break it down in two categories; elements and moments.  Some favorite elements included the stunning florals by Autumn at Flour!, the 1956 Studebaker President, seeing our signage come to life (shoutout Jen Pepper, a stationary goddess), Jamie Mercurio and her “eye”, seeing our (and truly it was a team effort) vision come to life.

My favorite moments were seeing the undying love and emotion come out of Joey at such small moments that meant so much to him, walking out of the church and looking at each other like, holy shit, we did it! and then gossiping about how each other’s mornings went, riding away as husband and wife in our getaway car, stopping to pop a bottle of champagne in the middle of the road, watching the joy on our loved one’s faces as we had our first dance, seeing our tent for the first time, DANCING.

While guests headed over for cocktail hour after the ceremony, the newly weds took off in their getaway car for a moment alone. As always, all the vendors helped create a beautiful event; Jamie Mercurio killed the photos all day and captured all the details!

All the florals were done by Flour!. Fun fact: one of the reasons that Kathryn had them use ferns was because this was the nickname she was given by her brother when they were younger. We LOVE when couples include small elements that are part of their story. The mix of greenery and simple white florals were given pops of color with shades of blue to match the mussel shells.

The cocktail hour took place on the lawn at Wells Reserve at Laudholm. All the catering and beverages were provided by Applecroft Catering, including a large charcuterie board.

After the cocktail hour guests were invited into the tent for dinner. The catering team prepared a mixed grill for dinner. Yum.

Kathryn and Joey kept the mussel theme throughout the tent with striped navy and white napkins and mussel name cards. The mussels were picked on Drakes island in Wells, Maine and sent to Letter and Ink for custom handwriting. They also included AFA milk glass goblets and blue goblets on their tables. The tent incorporated our mirror bar and lounge for guests to enjoy. Griffin & Griffin Lighting killed the installation around the tent, perfectly complimenting the decor.

What did you love the most about your venue?

The simplistic, natural elements that were enhanced by the stunning rentals, florals and accents.

Guests were given a sneak peek at the band Silver Arrow Band when Kathryn and Joey had their first dance to “The Way you look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra.

After a fabulous meal provided by Applecroft Catering and so many touching speeches by family members, the guests were invited onto the dance floor. Let me tell you- this crowd knew how to dance.

Any advice for couples on their wedding day or throughout the planning process?

Take mental pictures of your moments, be present with your person and soak in every element. The people that mean the most to you are all in one room, it’s the most overwhelming, surreal realization when you have it and during those five hours of bliss, nothing else matters.

As always Bear Brooke Bakery made stunning desserts. All the details were thought out including the Maine-shaped cookies to the edible oyster shells made of sugar on top of the cake. The fabulous dessert display and the late-night grilled cheese by Apple Croft were just what everyone needed before heading to the after party.

Other unique details you would like to share?

Every detail mattered from the classic, vintage vibes to the mussels collected from Drakes Island, the ferns – a nickname my brother gave me as a child, the JFK return stamps (don’t get Joey started on JFK).  We wanted to throw a party that felt like us in every element, welcoming our guests into our lives and a part of our future.

We loved working with Kathryn and Joey and their vendors to make their day one to remember. To many more years of dance parties, and happiness! Thanks for trusting us with your special day. We cannot thank you enough for your wonderful energy, for your contagious spirits, and your big, big hearts. You inspire us!
